Acoustic & fire-rated done properly
Sound and fire performance depends on every detail: the stud size and centres, the board type and number of layers, the insulation, and how the joints and edges are sealed. Leave one thing out and the wall won't perform as it should.
That's why we build to the manufacturer's tested system for the rating you need. We use acoustic mineral wool, sound-rated and fire-line boards, resilient bars and independent linings, and seal around the perimeter so sound and smoke can't find a way through.
We regularly build acoustic and fire-rated walls and ceilings for HMOs, flats, conversions, offices, schools and escape routes across Suffolk and Essex, working with builders, developers and building control.

Acoustic & fire-rated: your questions
Can you soundproof an existing wall?
Yes. We can add an independent lining or resilient bars with acoustic insulation and sound-rated boards to an existing wall, which noticeably reduces noise from next door.
What fire rating do I need?
It depends on where the wall or ceiling is and what the building is used for. Your architect or building control will set the rating, and we'll build to a tested system that meets it.
Do you do HMO conversions?
Yes. Fire-rated and acoustic walls and ceilings are a big part of HMO and flat conversions, and we regularly work with landlords and developers.
What's the difference between acoustic and standard boards?
Acoustic boards are denser, so they block more sound. Fire-line boards contain glass fibres and additives to hold together for longer in a fire. Many jobs use both.
